About Northern Maine Wellness Clinic

Northern Maine Wellness Clinic's mission is to provide non-judgmental, accessible and evidence-based treatment for opioid use disorder while supporting each patient's recovery journey and meeting them where they are at.

Who we are

At NMWC, we understand that recovery is a lifetime process that looks different for everyone. This clinic was created by someone who is in recovery themselves and who fully understands the complexities and realities of the health care system. Our mission is to not only save lives, but help individuals find their purpose in the process.

The clinic was established in 2025. We serve the St. John Valley and Aroostook County, and offer courtesy dosing for people visiting from downstate or out of state.

What we treat

We treat opioid use disorder in adults 18 and older, with methadone treatment paired with counseling services. We do not provide mental health treatment beyond substance use.

Our approach

A few things shape how we work with everyone who walks through the door.

  • Meeting you where you are

You will be treated as a person, not a case. There are no lectures here, and nothing you tell us will be met with judgment.

  • Evidence-based care

Methadone paired with counseling is a well-established treatment for opioid use disorder. We follow that evidence rather than trends.

  • Lived experience

The person who founded this clinic is in recovery themselves and knows the health care system from the inside. Our tagline — "We give back, so we don't go back" — comes from that, not from a marketing exercise.

  • Close to home

Distance keeps people from care in this part of the state. Being in Van Buren means treatment is a short trip rather than a long drive.

Getting into the building

We want the visit itself to be the easy part.

Our parking and restrooms are fully accessible, and the front entrance is the accessible one — use it if stairs are a problem, as the back entrance has stairs. If there is anything else we can do to make your visit easier, please call and let us know.

The front entrance is accessible. Parking for first-time visitors and vendors is out front, along with accessible parking. The main lot is out back; enter from the back and head up the stairs.

Questions about whether we are a fit?

The fastest way to find out is a phone call. There is no commitment in asking.

Planned hours: Monday through Friday, 5:30 to 11:30 AM, and Saturday, 6:30 to 9:30 AM. Once we open, walk-ins will be welcome. In the meantime, call with any questions.

Until we open, leave a voicemail and we will get back to you.
